IndiJ Public Media is the nonprofit foundation behind ICT (Indian Country Today). This policy explains what information we collect through indijpublicmedia.org, how we use it and the choices you have. It does not cover ictnews.org or other websites we link to, which have their own policies.
Information you give us. When you submit a form on our site, such as our donor-advised fund grant notice, we collect what you enter: your name, email address, your fund sponsor and any gift amount you choose to share. When you email us, we receive your message and contact details.
Information collected automatically. When you visit our site, we and our service providers collect your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the site that referred you and the time of your visit. If you arrive by clicking one of our ads, we also receive an identifier showing that the visit came from that ad.
Our site uses cookies, which are small files stored by your browser, to support analytics and advertising measurement. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some site features may not work as intended if you do.
We use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to understand how visitors find and use our site. These tools use cookies to collect the information described above. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
We use Google Ads, including through the Google Ad Grants program for nonprofits, to help people find our work. We use conversion tracking to measure actions taken after someone clicks one of our ads, such as submitting a form, clicking a donation link or clicking a newsletter link.
We may also use Google Analytics data to show our ads to people who have previously visited our site, including on other websites and Google services. Google and other third-party vendors may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our site.
You can opt out of personalized advertising through Google’s Ad Settings or opt out of third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at optout.aboutads.info.
Online donations and the Contributor Portal are provided by RevEngine, a platform operated by News Revenue Hub, at fundjournalism.org. When you give or sign in to manage your contributions, your payment and account information is collected and stored by RevEngine under its own privacy policy. We do not receive or store your full payment card number. We receive information about your gifts, such as your name, contact details and giving history, to acknowledge your support and keep accurate records.
Our site includes a DAF Direct widget that lets you start a grant recommendation with your fund sponsor. Information you enter in the widget is handled by DAF Direct and your sponsor under their own policies. Grants are processed by your fund sponsor.
Some pages include embedded content, such as videos, or links to other websites and social media. Those services may collect information about you under their own policies, especially if you are signed in to them.
We share information only with service providers that help us operate our site, process gifts and run our advertising, such as Google and News Revenue Hub, and when required by law. We do not sell or rent personal information to other organizations for their own fundraising or marketing.
We keep information according to our document retention policy. Donor records and gift acknowledgments are kept for seven years. Records of contributions and grants may be kept longer, and in some cases permanently, as required for tax, legal and accounting purposes. Messages and form submissions we receive by email are deleted on a regular schedule unless they become part of a donor or business record. We may keep information longer if it is needed for a legal matter or audit. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics settings.
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect personal information. No website or online service is completely secure. If a security breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or opt out of the use of your information for targeted advertising. To make a request, email development@ictnews.org. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Information we are required to keep for tax, legal or recordkeeping purposes, such as gift records, may be retained. To update your payment details or recurring gifts, use the Contributor Portal.
Our site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date.
