IndiJ Public Media

Our Giving Levels

Your generosity fuels our mission to amplify Native voices, providing essential free public news coverage to Indigenous communities and beyond. We serve the greater good through our journalism by connecting you with Indigenous-centered news and information to keep you informed and engaged. Not only are we educating audiences with our trustworthy, accurate reporting on Indigenous issues, we’re also empowering Indigenous voices and providing opportunities for the next generation. Our journalism is free to consume, but not free to produce, and our stories are only possible because we are funded by you and your philanthropic support.

You’re a vital part of our journey, and we’re thrilled to welcome you to our community of trusted supporters!

INDIVIDUAL DONOR

With recurring or one-time gifts of $5-$500 or more, Individual Donor contributions ensure Indigenous voices can be heard, honored, and shared far and wide.

ORGANIZATION PARTNER

With investments of $5,000 or more from Organization Partners, we can continue to elevate Indigenous narratives and empower the next generation of Indigenous journalists.

MAJOR DONOR

With leadership gifts of $1,000 or more, investments from Major Donors are critical to strengthening our sustainability and furthering our vision to continue fueling the power of Indigenous storytelling.

SOVEREIGN PARTNERS

With gifts of $5,000 or more, Sovereign Partner investments from tribes and tribally-affiliated organizations fuel our mission to give an informed, authentic voice to real issues in our own communities, stories that without ICT might never be told.

At ICT, we don’t charge for subscriptions, and we allow other media sources to republish our content for free so that the vital information we’re sharing is accessible far and wide. Because of you – our valued audience of readers, listeners, viewers and supporters – we’re able to elevate newsworthy stories from Indigenous nations while training the next generation of Native journalists and newsroom leaders — ensuring that Indigenous storytelling not only endures but flourishes.

With your help, as an Individual Donor, Organization Partner, Major Donor or Sovereign Partner, we will continue to enrich and elevate Indigenous journalism, covering more impactful stories and reaching wider audiences each year.

Editorial Independence Policy

ICT is committed to being transparent in the financial support it receives while also ensuring it maintains its editorial independence as a news organization.

IndiJ Public Media, a nonprofit public charity with 501(c)(3) status, operates as a public trust, we do not pay certain taxes. We may receive funds from standard government programs offered to nonprofits or similar businesses.

We subscribe to standards of editorial independence adopted by the Institute for Nonprofit News (INN), and add “tribes” to the sources from which we accept gifts, grants and sponsorships.

Our organization retains full authority over editorial content to protect the best journalistic and business interests of our organization. We maintain a firewall between news coverage decisions and sources of all revenue. Acceptance of financial support does not constitute implied or actual endorsement of donors or their products, services or opinions.

We accept gifts, grants and sponsorships from individuals and organizations for the general support of our activities, but our news judgments are made independently and not on the basis of donor support.

Our organization may consider donations to support the coverage of particular topics, but our organization maintains editorial control of the coverage. We will cede no right of review or influence of editorial content, nor of unauthorized distribution of editorial content.

Our organization will make public all donors who give a total of $5,000 or more per year. We will accept anonymous donations for general support only if it is clear that sufficient safeguards have been put into place that the expenditure of that donation is made independently by our organization and in compliance with INN’s Membership Standards.
